Lindsay is an independent magazine celebrating cultures and places around the world. It was founded by Beth Wilkinson and created in collaboration with writers, photographers and artists from around the globe. It is designed and published by Oak Park Studio, a creative practice led by Beth, which is renowned for its artisanal approach to branding, print media, creative direction, publishing, photography and web.

The title is named after Beth’s grandfather (Lindsay James Stanger), who was a self-taught photographer with an incredible curiosity for learning about the world and a love for documenting it. You can read his story in Issue No. 5. Lindsay brings together diverse voices with a curious, open-minded approach to producing thoughtful and borderless editorial content that helps readers around the world learn about the rest of the world.

In a short time, Lindsay garnered readers in over 180 countries. Its printed publication was sold in the best museum stores, bookshops and concept spaces around the globe, including Tate Modern (London), The Whitney (New York City), Gucci Garden (Florence), Yvon Lambert (Paris), Daikanyama T-Site (Tokyo) and MCA (Sydney). It hosted events globally—from an artist talk at Maryam Nassir Zadeh (New York City) to a couture gala at the Hotel Windsor (Melbourne)—and attracted international media attention from the likes of It’s Nice That (London), Popeye (Tokyo) and Freunde von Freunden (Berlin).

Beth’s publishing story has led her to talk at the New York magazine symposium ModMag alongside Nicholas Blechman (Creative Director, The New Yorker) and Veronica Ditting (Art Director, The Gentlewoman) and on publishing panels at the National Gallery of Victoria. She has written about making a magazine for The Saturday Paper, guest curated tables of her favourite magazines for stores like Daikanyama T-Site (Tokyo) and designed cultural publications for an international client list, from Cinemagoer (Athens) to Advance Copy (Berlin).

Lindsay was founded in Melbourne, Australia, on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation. We pay our respect to their ancestors and elders—past, present and future—and value the role of storytelling in their culture, which is amongst the oldest living cultures in the world.
